Howie Rubin

Howie Rubin is a distinguished figure in the world of wine and beverages, with a career spanning nearly five decades. His journey began in 1975 as a founding member of The London Wine Bar in San Francisco, America’s first wine bar, introducing the concept of serving wines by the glass. His diverse journey includes working as a field laborer at Mayacamas Vineyards in Napa Valley where he hand-picked grapes while dodging rattlesnakes, excelling as a Sommelier at The Breakers Hotel in West Palm Beach in Florida while earning his tastevin in record time and dedicating 43 years as the General Manager at Bauer Wine & Spirits on Newbury Street in Boston. 

Notably, Howie served as the wine purchasing agent for esteemed wine connoisseurs, including the Cabot, Coolidge, Spaulding, and Forbes families. Throughout his time, Howie explored wine regions worldwide, continuously deepening his knowledge and appreciation for the world of wine. Additionally, he engaged audiences as a captivating wine expert on radio station WFNX 101.7FM during the 1990s, hosting discussions and chef pairings that showcased his culinary and beverage expertise.
